A report on the Swine Flu, just in….. from our intrepid reporter “Pigg Penn” who lives nearby, on Feramin Antonio Mundaca de Marechega’s Hacienda property on Isla:

(File picture of “Pigg Penn”)
“Oink oink oink oink, oink onik. Oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink.
Oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink, oink oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink
oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink oink. Oink oink oink oink oink!
Oinkidy, oinkidy, oink-oink.”
Unfortunately Mr. Penn only speaks “Swinehili”, so we have no idea what he said.

This past Sunday we enjoyed another of our friend Steve’s booze cruises. There were 42 of us aboard the “Velvet Tiger” out of the Playa Tortugas dock in the hotel zone. We introduced our friends Al and Louise to their first ever Cancun booze cruise. We had a good wind for the sails and perfect weather. The VT is a dual hull catamaran with a good Captain and crew. We first sailed over to the harbor on Isla Mujeres where we dropped off all those that wanted to snorkel the waters along the lighthouse. This is a drift type snorkel, so the boat picked everyone up downwind about 30 mins. later. We then dried off and headed to dock #7 in downtown Isla for a free hour of exploration of the village. After re-boarding the VT we headed out to sea towards the south end of the island to the Oasis Beach Club for a buffet lunch and some beach games. Al and Louise won a game for Canada and were awarded a couple of very nice T-shirts from Steve. We were starving as it was already about 2pm. The buffet was delicious and filling. A couple of hours pasted quickly. We got back on board again and headed back towards Cancun. Along the way we stopped and let out the spinnaker sail so those who were brave enough could go for a ride. It was a long very enjoyable day of fun in the sun and all was good.

Saturday night we went to our first baseball game here in Cancun. We live within walking distance to the stadium. The tickets cost 80 pesos for the VIP section. The seats were comfortable and even had backs on them. The local team is the “Tigres” and they are at about a AA level in the USA. That night they played the visiting team from Minatitlan, the “Petrolero’s”. The Tigres won 9-1. We went with our friends Louise and Al. We also bumped into more friends while in the park.We got to see a little of everything. Some double plays, a home run (420+ ft.) several pitcher changes, a couple of good outfield catches. The park was beautiful. It was very well groomed and clean. The viewing angles were good and the crowd was enthusiastic. We sat on the first base side just ahead of home plate. A bottle of beer cost 20 pesos and the choices of food were amazing. You could even order off a menu and they would deliver an order to your seat. We treated ourselves to a couple of home team t-shirts, and a hat from the souvenir shop after the game. It was a good night weather wise with only a brief period of raindrops that didn’t even pause the game.
