In order to celebrate our 4 birthdays we made reservations for dinner at Harry´s in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. We had never been to Harry´s before so it was a new experience for us.
The ambience is quite nice and the noise level acceptable. Our initial greeting from the Maitre d was warm and welcoming.
We were seated promptly. The table was beautifully set and we were ready for a great birthday celebration.
The extensive cocktail drink menu
The dinner menu´s were overly large and really were cumbersome for a table of 4
Since Louise was wearing a black dress the waiter insisted on exchanging her white napkin for a black one.
A very clever idea, I was handed an Apple iPad that contained the wine list complete with pictures of the labels and pricing.
The meat choices were wheeled by on a cart and explained in detail by one of the 3 waiters that served us.
Louise and Al chose the Norton and Suzie and I went with the Two Vines
I started with the Bisque de Langosta which was hot and delicious.
Louise´s Cesare salad
Caprese Salad for Al which he found to be delicious.
Freshly baked bread was served warm in a small pan. It was to die for.
Jumbo Lump Crap Cake for Suzie which she found wonderful.
Louise´s entree was the grilled salmon.
Suzie chose the Rack of Lamb. It was prepared perfectly and was awesome.
I splurged….hey it was my birthday dinner and I wanted to check something off my bucket list. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu…..the Kobe beef sampler! It consisted of 3 Kobe beef filet´s from America, Japan & Australia. I can tell you that the piece from Japan was sensational. The other two were very good but in some ways disappointing because of some grizzle which rather surprised me. So if I go back I would stick to the Kobe from Japan.
Al´s choice was the filet Mignon and he reported that he was very happy with it.
Suzie and I treated ourselves to Bombay gin martini´s. Her´s dirty, mine not. However they made a mistake and served them both ¨dirty¨and that spoiled mine……oh well. There was a savings grace though……they were served with large blue cheese stuffed green olives…….yummy.
Some of the sides were sauteed spinach for Suzie and grilled carrots for Louise
Our surprise complementary birthday cake complete with Roman Candles arrived. How nice of Harry´s.
of course we had to add an after dinner drink. Gran Mariner suited the occasion.
Harry´s famous ¨Cotton Candy¨ to finish off our meal.
Our check…….expensive? yes but you only live once. Go for it!
A few additional pictures of the restaurant.
Harry´s is all about excellent service and good food. The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to return again. The service was very attentive and professional, the food was excellent and so was the ambience. We would recommend that you visit Harry´s while enjoying your vacation time in Cancun. Thank you so much for logging onto my blog. I do this for you so we can enjoy the many fun things you can do while visiting our hometown…..Cancun, Mexico together.
